In the quiet town of Corinth, Mississippi, the life of George Earl Harris, a 57-year-old man, was tragically cut short on Monday, May 21, 2018. He was discovered on the front porch of his residence, the victim of a fatal shooting. The authorities were summoned to the scene, and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death commenced.
As detectives delved into the case, their efforts soon led them to two individuals.
The first to be apprehended was 18-year-old Shaquavia Gunn, who was taken into custody on a Thursday evening. Investigators described her as a friend of the victim. The following day, the second suspect, 20-year-old Darius Deen, was located and arrested at a motel in the nearby town of Booneville. During the arrest, law enforcement recovered a. 357 revolver from Deen's room, which they believe to be the weapon used in the commission of the crime.
With the suspects in custody, the motive behind the violent act began to surface. It was determined that Harris had been the victim of a robbery. According to the Corinth Police Chief, money, a cell phone, and a wallet were all stolen from him. Both Gunn and Deen were subsequently charged with Capital Murder in connection with the robbery and slaying of George Harris.
