Megan Staats, a 26-year-old store clerk from Philadelphia, Mississippi, tragically lost her life on August 25, 2018, during a robbery at the CEFCO convenience store where she worked. The incident occurred when Robert Leon Jackson, a habitual offender who had been released from prison early, attempted to rob the store. Jackson approached the register where Megan Staats was working, demanded money, and after she complied, he shot her in the back, resulting in her immediate death.
