In a tragic turn of events on a Sunday morning in September 2018, the city of Jackson, Mississippi, was rocked by a triple homicide that claimed the lives of three generations of one family. Eddie Mae Wofford, a 67-year-old female, was found shot to death in her home. Also discovered at the scene were the bodies of her 49-year-old daughter, Miyuki Wofford, and her 26-year-old granddaughter, Kyisha Wofford, who may have been pregnant at the time. All three women had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene.
The grim discovery was made after police received a call about someone being held against their will. Upon arrival at the residence, officers encountered a man in a wheelchair just outside the home with a firearm nearby. The man, identified as 22-year-old Maurice Forte, the grandson of Eddie Mae Wofford, son of Miyuki Wofford, and brother of Kyisha Wofford, reportedly told the officers that he had shot someone. He was taken into custody for questioning and was subsequently arrested and charged with three counts of murder.
Following his arrest, Maurice Forte was held without bond. He was later found guilty of killing his grandmother, mother, and pregnant sister. For his crimes that 'wiped out three generations,' he was sentenced to life in prison. The motive for the devastating familicide has not been publicly released.
