In the early morning hours of February 16, 2019, a domestic disturbance call to a residence on Foxhill Drive in Clinton, Mississippi, set in motion a tragic chain of events that would claim the life of 28-year-old Le Thi My Van and three others. Responding officers were met with gunfire from Nam Quang Le, who then barricaded himself inside the home, taking multiple people hostage.
This initiated a tense standoff that would last for approximately 12 hours.
Inside the house, Nam Le held his wife, 30-year-old Lan Thi My Van; his sister-in-law, Le Thi My Van; Le Thi My Van's fiancé, 28-year-old Dr. Phung Minh Le; and a family friend and babysitter, 65-year-old Cho Thi Van. During the prolonged standoff, Nam Le shot and killed all four hostages. The brutal nature of the crime was later underscored by reports that all victims had been shot multiple times. In a small measure of relief amidst the tragedy, two young children, the daughters of Nam Le and Lan Thi My Van, were safely released from the home during the ordeal.

He was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation took charge of the case to piece together the events that led to the devastating outcome.
