A domestic dispute in Clinton, Mississippi on February 16, 2019, tragically escalated into a 12-hour hostage standoff that left five people dead, including 30-year-old Lan Thi My Van. The incident began in the early morning hours when Clinton police responded to a call at a residence on Foxhill Drive. Upon their arrival, officers were met with gunfire from Nam Quang Le, 34, who then barricaded himself inside the home with multiple hostages.

My Van, her sister, Le Thi My Van, 28, her fiancé, Phung Minh Le, 28, and a family friend, Cho Thi Van, 65. Throughout the protracted standoff, law enforcement, including the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the Highway Patrol SWAT Team, worked to resolve the situation. During the ordeal, two children were safely rescued from the home.
The standoff concluded when law enforcement made entry into the residence. They discovered that Nam Quang Le had shot and killed all four hostages. Le himself was found wounded by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The motive for the deadly confrontation was believed to have stemmed from a domestic dispute. In the wake of the tragedy, the community of Clinton mourned the loss of the four victims. The investigation into the incident was handled by the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation. Since the sole suspect in the killings was deceased, no arrests were made.
