In a tragic turn of events following a local Mardi Gras parade, 34-year-old Jason Haley, a male volunteer firefighter, was shot and killed in Natchez, Mississippi. The incident, which also claimed the life of his friend and fellow volunteer firefighter Troy Whittington, unfolded on the night of March 1, 2019. Haley and Whittington were at a friend's home on Quasar Street when the estranged husband of the woman living there, Jonathan Beach, arrived and attempted to force his way inside.
