In Natchez, Mississippi, 27-year-old Black man Kordell Summers of Port Gibson was caught up in gunfire that began on October 8, 2025, in what his family later described as a drive-by shooting. He was born on November 24, 1997, and by early October he was moving between Natchez and his hometown of Port Gibson, part of a close-knit family that would soon be forced to mourn him in public.
