In the quiet community of Natchez, Mississippi, the life of 48-year-old John Thomas Martin was brought to a tragic and violent end on the evening of January 26, 2018. That night, law enforcement responded to a call at a residence on Woodman Road, where they discovered Martin outside, suffering from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injury shortly after his arrival.
The investigation that followed a complicated web of involvement, leading
to a series of arrests. The primary suspect, 28-year-old Isaac Garner, was apprehended in Fresno, California, where he and 26-year-old Cassandra Trahern were found sleeping in a vehicle. Garner was subsequently charged with murder, while Trahern faced a charge of accessory after the fact to murder.
The circle of those implicated in the events surrounding Martin's death widened as the investigation progressed. Authorities also arrested 34-year-old Shaun Michael Latham, charging him as an accessory after the fact. In the days that followed, more individuals were taken into custody. Anthony Day, 28, turned himself in to the Adams County Sheriff's Office, and his girlfriend, 26-year-old Kimberly Brooke Tolbert, was also arrested. Both were charged with accessory after the fact to murder. The investigation further led to the arrests of 53-year-old Charles Nettles Sr. and 45-year-old Victoria Granier on similar accessory charges, painting a picture of a crime with numerous alleged participants.
