In the summer of 2019, the life of 33-year-old Latoya Tavelle Thompson Robinson was brought to a tragic and abrupt end in the small town of Potts Camp, Mississippi. On July 16th, while at her job as a receptionist at the Williams Medical Clinic, a place of healing became a scene of violence. Her husband, identified as a candidate for the Mississippi House of Representatives, entered the clinic and fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself in a devastating murder-suicide.
Latoya
was a graduate of Ashland High School and the University of Mississippi, and was an active member of the Harris Chapel MB Church in Ashland. Her death left a void in the lives of many, particularly her young son, her mother, sister, and brother. The community was left to grapple with the sudden loss of a woman described as a beloved mother and dedicated member of her church.
The incident drew immediate attention from law enforcement and local media, with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department identifying the couple involved.
