In the late evening hours of a summer Saturday in Columbus, Mississippi, a life was tragically cut short. On July 25, 2020, Desi Shepherd, a 32-year-old male and U.S. Navy veteran, was at a home on Springdale Drive when an argument with his cousin escalated to deadly violence. The dispute quickly turned physical, and Shepherd was shot. He was rushed to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle, but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead early the next morning.
