On November 22, 2023, 17-year-old La'Bronze Shemar Moore was shot near the Ready Mart convenience store on North McCrary Road in Columbus, Mississippi. He sustained a gunshot wound to the head and was initially treated at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle before being airlifted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. Despite medical efforts, Moore succumbed to his injuries on November 25, 2023.
