In the early evening of November 12, 2020, tragedy struck in Jackson, Mississippi, when 44-year-old Jonathan Thornton, a Black male, was fatally shot. The incident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. on Magnolia Street, shattering the calm of the neighborhood. When police arrived, they discovered Thornton, who had sustained a gunshot wound.
