In the winter of 2021, the community of Meridian, Mississippi, was shaken by the violent death of a beloved resident. William Earl Brookins, a 60-year-old Black male, was found deceased in his home on Davis Street on the morning of Sunday, January 17th. He had been fatally shot sometime between the evening of Friday, January 15th, and the time his body was discovered. The case is being investigated as a homicide.
