In the early hours of a Saturday in February 2021, the atmosphere at a nightclub in Pattison, Mississippi, turned from revelry to terror. A dispute, reportedly ignited by an argument over rap music, escalated into a burst of gunfire that left two young people dead and five others wounded. Among the victims was Gerraneisha Gibson, a 21-year-old female who was tragically caught in the crossfire. Another victim, 23-year-old Justin Marshall, also lost his life in the chaotic scene.
Investigators later clarified that Gibson was an innocent bystander, while Marshall was believed to have been part of one of the groups involved in the initial conflict.
The senseless violence of that night prompted a swift response from law enforcement. The Claiborne County Sheriff's Department launched an intensive investigation that quickly led to the identification of four suspects. Within a short period, Rashad Thompson, Warren Young, and James Douglas Williams, with ages ranging from 18 to 24, were taken into custody. The fourth suspect, Jermaine Boyd, was also identified but was initially hospitalized for undisclosed reasons.
All four men were subsequently charged with two counts of murder and five counts of aggravated assault, reflecting the devastating human toll of the nightclub shooting. During their initial court appearance, the gravity of the charges against them was underscored when a judge denied bail for Thompson, Young, and Williams, ensuring they would remain in custody as the legal process moved forward. A warrant was also issued for Boyd's arrest.
