Myrtessia Catchings, a 23-year-old woman from Brookhaven, Mississippi, tragically lost her life on November 1, 2021, in a shooting incident at a Waffle House on Brookway Boulevard. Catchings, who was the manager of the Waffle House, had been called into work around 2 a.m. to help defuse a situation when she was shot. She succumbed to her injuries at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
