In the late afternoon on a Thursday in February 2022, a dispute over car repairs at a tire shop in Hazelhurst, Mississippi, escalated into a fatal encounter. The disagreement ended with the shop's owner shooting and killing a customer, a 49-year-old man named Christopher Buie.
