Steven K. Gardner, a 30-year-old trooper with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, tragically lost his life on March 23, 1984, in Hazelhurst, Mississippi. Trooper Gardner was shot and killed by a suspect he had arrested earlier that night. The suspect, identified as Herman L.
