Destini Jemerson, a 16-year-old from Marks, Mississippi, tragically lost her life on February 26, 2022, in Charleston, Mississippi. Destini was a passenger in the back seat of a vehicle traveling on Martin Luther King Drive when she was struck by a bullet. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, and Destini was pronounced dead at the scene on Main Street, adjacent to the Tallahatchie County Jail.
