In the spring of 2022, a 30-year-old woman named Angie Renee Smith became a victim of the increasing violence in Jackson, Mississippi. On March 15th, she was driven to Merit Health Central by an unidentified person, suffering from several gunshot wounds to her upper body. Despite the efforts of medical staff, Smith was pronounced dead upon her arrival at the hospital.
The Jackson Police Department immediately launched a homicide investigation into her death. What they uncovered suggested a targeted and brutal attack. Investigators believe Angie was ambushed and shot in an ambush-style assault. Her car, a 2004 Mercedes C240, was later discovered crashed into the yard of a residence on Lindsey Drive, painting a grim picture of her final moments.
Police were able to interview the person who brought Angie to the hospital, gathering what they described as crucial information for their ongoing investigation. However, despite these early leads and the public's pleas for information, no arrests have been made in connection with her murder.
