On February 22, 2025, Thelma Wright, a 68-year-old African American woman, was fatally shot in Jackson, Mississippi. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in the 3800 block of Meadow Lane. Upon arrival, authorities found Ms. Wright deceased at the scene. She had been returning home from a wedding reception when the shooting took place.
