In the spring of 2022, a life was tragically cut short in Jackson, Mississippi, leaving a family to mourn and a community to grapple with the persistent issue of gun violence. Ernest Walters, a 21-year-old Black man, was on Lindbergh Drive on the evening of May 8th when he was shot multiple times. The young man was rushed to a local hospital, but his injuries proved to be too severe, and he ultimately succumbed to them.
