In the small, tightly-knit community of Delaware, Oklahoma, the life of 35-year-old Joshua Luke Stand came to a tragic end on June 16, 2014. On that day, Stand, a man known by locals to be both odd and harmless, was shot and killed by Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Jerrod Martin. The encounter, which unfolded on a rural blacktop road, left Stand with eight bullet wounds, including two in his back and one in his buttock.
