In what should have been a safe space, five-year-old Braydon Keith Lee Creech, a male child, found his life tragically cut short in Tulsa, Oklahoma. On March 19, 2015, a tense situation began to unfold when Braydon's father, Bryon Keith Creech, broke into the apartment of the boy's mother, Laurel Joy Creech. This act was in violation of a protective order she had against him.
Bryon then barricaded himself and young Braydon inside the residence, initiating a prolonged standoff with Tulsa Police that would last for approximately 17 hours.
Throughout the tense ordeal, law enforcement attempted to negotiate with Bryon Creech. At various points, multiple gunshots were fired from within the apartment. The standoff finally came to an end on the morning of March 20, 2015, when Bryon surrendered to the authorities. Tragically, upon entering the apartment, police discovered Braydon's body. An autopsy later confirmed that the young boy had died from gunshot wounds to the chest and neck, and his death was ruled a homicide.
Following the discovery of his son's body, Bryon Keith Creech was taken into custody. He was subsequently charged with a litany of offenses, including first-degree murder, shooting with intent to kill, kidnapping, child abuse by injury, child neglect, second-degree burglary, and violation of a protective order. The tragic event occurred amidst ongoing and escalating divorce proceedings between Braydon's parents. Prior to the fatal standoff, Braydon's mother had reported to police that his father had made threats to kill her.
