In the early morning hours of a December Saturday in Lawton, Oklahoma, a gathering of soldiers would take a tragic and irreversible turn. Trevor Malik Hargrave, a 20-year-old male soldier stationed at the nearby Fort Sill, was with fellow soldiers at an apartment complex when the unthinkable happened. The group had been drinking when one of the soldiers began playing with a shotgun. In a moment of recklessness, the firearm discharged, striking Hargrave.
