In the spring of 2017, the life of a young woman from Oklahoma City was tragically cut short. Wendy Cortez-Paiz, a 22-year-old female, was fatally wounded in a shooting that occurred on Saturday, April 1, 2017. She succumbed to her injuries two days later, on Monday, April 3, 2017. Born in Retalhuleu, Guatemala, Wendy had graduated from Emerson High School in Oklahoma City and was employed at Hetronic USA.
The violent episode unfolded at a residence on the northwest side of the city,
leaving a scene of chaos and sorrow. Another woman, 33-year-old Monica Valdez, also lost her life in the shooting. Three other individuals were wounded during the incident but were fortunate to have survived.
In the aftermath of the deadly shooting, law enforcement authorities launched an investigation that quickly led to a suspect. Jessica Madbull, a 28-year-old woman, was taken into custody in connection with the incident. She was arrested on a complaint of first-degree murder, facing serious allegations for her role in the deaths of Wendy Cortez-Paiz and Monica Valdez. Following her arrest, Madbull was held at the Oklahoma County jail.
