In a tragic turn of events on a Saturday evening in July 2017, Gregory S. Thomas, a 48-year-old man, lost his life in a fatal shooting in east Tulsa. The incident, which marked the city's 46th homicide of the year, unfolded at a duplex where Thomas resided with his wife. An argument between the couple escalated, leading to Thomas being shot in the stomach.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The initial investigation by Tulsa police quickly centered on Thomas's wife, Katesha Childers. At the time of the incident, Thomas was in the process of moving out of their shared home. The dispute that ultimately led to the fatal shooting reportedly began when he refused to give Childers his keys to the residence. Although Childers was not present when law enforcement arrived at the scene, she later returned and was taken into custody in connection with her husband's death.
Following her arrest, Katesha Childers faced legal proceedings for the murder of her husband. She was subsequently convicted of the crime and received a sentence of life in prison.
