In the late summer of 2017, a tragedy unfolded in Tulsa, Oklahoma, forever altering the lives of two families. On September 5th, 40-year-old Teddy Prejean, a Black/African American male also known as Ervin, found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time at the Savanna Landing apartments. An innocent bystander, Prejean was shot in the parking lot of the complex in a violent incident that would also claim the life of another.
Hours after Prejean's death, the body of Shayron Brown, who
was in the early stages of pregnancy, was discovered in an apartment at the same complex. Investigators quickly connected the two deaths, discovering that the shell casings from both scenes matched, indicating the use of the same weapon. This crucial piece of evidence pointed towards a single suspect responsible for the double homicide.
The investigation led police to Keenan White, who was already on Tulsa's Most Wanted list for outstanding warrants. Surveillance footage and forensic evidence linked White to both crime scenes. Authorities located a. 45 caliber handgun along the route White had taken after the murders, and it was a match to the shell casings found at the scene of Prejean's death and Brown's murder. White was subsequently arrested and charged with three counts of first-degree murder, including the death of Brown's unborn child. While an arrest was made, the motive for the senseless killings remained unclear.
