In the winter of 2017, the life of 28-year-old Barry Thomas was tragically cut short in a fatal shooting in northwest Oklahoma City. A Black male, Mr. Thomas was born on August 11, 1989. His death on December 19, 2017, marked the 87th homicide in the city for that year, leaving a void in the lives of his family and friends.
On that Tuesday morning, at approximately 11:45 AM, police were called to the scene of a shooting near the intersection of NW 10th and Blackwelder.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Barry Thomas with critical injuries. He was immediately transported to a local hospital, but his wounds proved to be too severe, and he was pronounced dead. The incident took place outside a convenience store in the area, a public space turned into a scene of violence in the middle of the day.
Despite the efforts of the Oklahoma City Police Department, the investigation into the murder of Barry Thomas has yet to yield any arrests.
