In the autumn of 2018, the life of 21-year-old Lauren Kidd of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, was tragically cut short. A young mother, Kidd was reported missing on October 30, 2018, after she failed to show up for a planned Halloween outing with her family. Her loved ones' concern grew when they were unable to contact her, a behavior they described as highly uncharacteristic for the devoted mother.
The investigation into her disappearance quickly focused on her 21-year-old ex-boyfriend, Konner
Brunner. Initially, Brunner claimed to have dropped Kidd off and denied any knowledge of her whereabouts. However, as detectives delved deeper, inconsistencies in his story began to emerge. Friends of Brunner reported seeing what appeared to be blood in his vehicle, raising suspicions. The investigation led police to determine that Kidd had been shot inside Brunner's car in the parking lot of a Broken Arrow apartment complex.
Confronted with mounting evidence, Brunner confessed to killing Kidd. He admitted to shooting her and then disposing of her body in a recycling bin. This confession launched a grim search for Kidd's remains. Investigators processed the recycling bin, but her body was not found there. The search eventually led them to a landfill, where they were tragically unable to recover her. Despite the absence of a body, evidence, including the weapon used in the crime which was recovered from Brunner's home, was sufficient for prosecutors to move forward with the case.
Konner Brunner was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. During his trial, he claimed the shooting was an accident. However, a jury found him guilty of the murder of Lauren Kidd. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.
