In a tragic turn of events, the search for a missing young woman from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, culminated in the discovery of a grim murder-suicide that claimed three lives. Twenty-year-old Alyssa Diane Shippy, a female whose concerned out-of-state relatives had reported her missing, was found deceased in her family's home. She had not been seen or heard from since November of the previous year.
The investigation into her disappearance led police to execute a search warrant at her residence on May 28, 2025.
Upon entering the home, authorities were met with a distressing scene. They initially found the bodies of Alyssa's ten-year-old brother and her fifty-eight-year-old father, Rodney Shippy, as well as the family dog. The condition of the house was such that it initially obscured the discovery of Alyssa's body, which was located by investigators sometime later. The medical examiner would later confirm that Alyssa's death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound. At the time of her discovery, her body was in a state of decomposition.
The investigation concluded that Rodney Shippy was the perpetrator of the violence that unfolded within the home. After fatally shooting his two children, he then turned the gun on himself in a final, tragic act. The motive behind the horrific event was not made clear, though reports indicated the family had been facing foreclosure on their home. No arrests were made as the sole suspect took his own life.
