In the quiet suburb of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, a horrific scene unfolded that ended the life of nine-year-old Brantley Nelson. On October 27, 2022, first responders were called to a house fire, but what they discovered inside was far more devastating than the flames. Within the home, authorities found the bodies of Brantley, her five siblings, and her parents, Brian and Brittney Nelson.
The investigation into the tragic event revealed a story of violence that preceded the fire.
Autopsy reports later confirmed that Brantley and her siblings all died from gunshot wounds. Her siblings were identified as Brian Anthony Nelson II, 13; Vegeta Nelson, 7; Ragnar Nelson, 5; Kurgan Nelson, 2; and Britannica Nelson, 1. The children were discovered together in a back bedroom of the house.
The bodies of their parents, Brian and Brittney Nelson, were found in the front of the home. Authorities have identified the adults as the primary suspects in the deaths of their six children, investigating the case as a mass murder-suicide. While the official motive has not been released, family members indicated that the couple had been facing significant financial difficulties. They had filed for bankruptcy in 2020, listing substantial liabilities and ownership of nine guns. Additionally, it was reported that Brian Nelson had been suffering from severe headaches since a workplace head injury years prior.
