In the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma, a spring day in 2020 was shattered by a senseless act of violence that claimed the life of Jane Hall, a 57-year-old female. On April 1st, while diligently performing her duties as the manager of the Westminster apartment complex, a fatal encounter unfolded, forever altering the lives of those who knew and loved her.
That day, reports of smoke drew Jane and a colleague, 34-year-old Bayron Rodriguez, to a part of the complex.
There, they encountered a man with whom an argument reportedly ensued. The man, later identified as Davion Wilkes, was asked to leave the property. In a tragic turn of events, as he was departing, he turned and opened fire, striking both Jane and Bayron. The sudden violence of the act left the community in shock and mourning the loss of two individuals who were simply doing their jobs.
The investigation into the double homicide led authorities to Davion Wilkes. It was discovered that Wilkes had a criminal history in other states. Following his arrest, the legal process moved forward, culminating in a guilty plea from Wilkes in December 2021 for two counts of first-degree murder. This plea spared the families of Jane Hall and Bayron Rodriguez the additional pain of a lengthy trial. Wilkes was subsequently sentenced to a term of life in prison without the possibility of parole, ensuring he would be held accountable for his devastating actions that cut short two lives.
