On a Friday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, what began as a recreational outing ended in a tragic loss of life. Mitchell Bab, a 24-year-old male from Baton Rouge, was at the 2A Shooting Center on June 5, 2020. He and another man, identified as 29-year-old Christopher Washington, arrived at the gun range separately.
The situation took a horrific turn as Mitchell Bab was attempting to leave the facility. Without warning, Washington fired several shots, striking Bab in the back.
Immediately following the attack on Bab, Washington then turned the firearm on himself in an apparent murder-suicide. It was reported that one of the men had rented a gun at the range prior to the incident.
Emergency services were called to the scene, but Mitchell Bab succumbed to his injuries. Christopher Washington was initially reported as being alive but was not expected to survive his self-inflicted gunshot wound. The investigation into the motive for the deadly encounter was ongoing, though family members of Mitchell Bab have stated their belief that he was murdered by a mentally ill individual. No other suspects were sought in connection with the shooting.
