In the early morning hours of July 11, 2020, the life of 16-year-old Guillermo Josue Garcia, a Hispanic male, was tragically cut short in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was walking near the entrance of the Seminole Hills apartment complex, in the 1600 block of East Virgin Street, when the incident unfolded.
Around 1:30 a.m., a light-colored vehicle was seen heading eastbound. Suddenly, shots were fired from the vehicle in a drive-by attack. Garcia was struck once in the torso.
He was rushed to a local hospital, but tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. At the time of the shooting, he was reportedly in the company of another person.
In the wake of the shooting, the Tulsa Police Department launched a homicide investigation. Authorities appealed to the public for assistance, asking anyone with information to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers. However, in the initial stages of the investigation, no suspects were publicly identified, and no arrests were announced. The case left a void in the community and for a family grieving the sudden and violent loss of a young life. As of the latest available information, there have been no subsequent public announcements regarding arrests or the identification of suspects in the death of Guillermo Josue Garcia.
