Authorities identified Javier Lewis as the suspect
in Koteen's death. According to police reports, the shooting occurred after Lewis had fired shots at another family member. Following the incident, Lewis fled the scene, leading to a police pursuit. The chase concluded when Lewis rammed a police vehicle and was subsequently taken into custody.
Javier Lewis was arrested and faced numerous charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with the death of Emilia Koteen. He was booked into the Canadian County Jail. The loss of Emilia Koteen was felt deeply by her loved ones, who remembered her as a hardworking woman dedicated to providing for her children. Her funeral service was held on May 3, 2021, at the Indian Community Church in Oklahoma City.
