In the early morning hours of August 13, 2022, the life of 44-year-old Keith Brown was tragically cut short. He was discovered beside a bus stop near the corner of 11th and Garnett in east Tulsa, having sustained a fatal gunshot wound. Witnesses in the area reported hearing a shot and seeing people fleeing from the scene around 5 a.m. The Tulsa Police Department promptly launched a homicide investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The investigation quickly led to the
identification of two suspects. Brandon Lancaste, 19, and Kaleb Carter, 21, were arrested by Tulsa Police Homicide and Warrants Detectives without incident. The arrests brought a swift turn in the case, offering some hope for justice for Brown and his loved ones.
Following their arrests, both men faced serious charges. Kaleb Carter was booked on a state charge of felony murder. Due to his membership in the Choctaw Tribe, Brandon Lancaste was booked with the FBI. The investigation into the death of Keith Brown continued as authorities worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal shooting.
