In the early morning hours of October 10, 2022, the sound of gunshots echoed through the Plaza Inn motel, located at 3200 S. I-35 Service Rd. in Oklahoma City. Responding to reports of the shooting at approximately 8:45 a.m., police officers arrived to a grim scene. Inside the motel, they discovered the body of Kentrell Kindred, a 41-year-old Black male. He had sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.
