In the early afternoon of May 21, 2014, a single, loud "bang" echoed near the Shalom Center in Kenosha, Wisconsin, marking the final hours of 33-year-old Kavin Stewart's life. A Black male, Stewart was seated in a car when he sustained a fatal gunshot wound. In the immediate aftermath, confusion and a sense of urgency filled the air as neighbors witnessed a bleeding Stewart emerge from the vehicle, only to get back in and drive himself towards the hospital.
