On the evening of June 14, 2024, Kenneth S. Davidson, a 32-year-old Black man, was fatally shot in Kenosha, Wisconsin. He was in his hometown to attend a family funeral. Earlier in the evening, Davidson had been watching a Boston Celtics game before taking a walk with a friend. At approximately 9:20 p.m., multiple reports of shots fired near the intersection of 58th Street and 36th Avenue drew police to the area.
Officers discovered Davidson unresponsive in a driveway in the 4700 block of 36th Avenue, where he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Kenosha Police Department launched a homicide investigation into Davidson's death, canvassing the neighborhood, speaking with witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage. Despite these efforts, the motive for the shooting remains under investigation, and authorities have not yet made any arrests or publicly identified any suspects. Months after the shooting, in February 2025, police held a press conference to renew their plea for public assistance, emphasizing the need for community cooperation to solve the case. They have encouraged anyone with even the smallest piece of information to come forward and have set up a dedicated anonymous tip line.
Kenneth, known to his loved ones as Kenny, was a father, son, and brother. Remembered for his contagious laugh and smile, he was a personal trainer who had a passion for physical fitness and music. His family, including his mother Yolanda McKenzie, has been vocal in their grief and frustration, making emotional appeals to the community for answers and closure. They describe the profound void his death has left in their hearts and continue to advocate for justice, stating they will not rest until those responsible for his death are held accountable.
