Marcus Bland, a 26-year-old resident of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, tragically lost his life on August 27, 2014. The incident occurred in the 3700 block of W. The investigation into Bland's death
quickly identified Antonio Gray as a suspect. Gray, a 25-year-old convicted felon, was charged with first-degree reckless homicide and possession of a firearm by a felon. According to the criminal complaint, a police officer was flagged down by a man who reported a shooting. The officer found Bland's body and recovered 12 9mm Luger casings, three deformed bullets, and two bullet fragments at the scene. Witnesses reported hearing an argument between individuals known by the nicknames 'K-10' and 'Nookie,' later identified as Antonio Gray. Bland, who noticed the argument, approached the scene and was confronted by another individual known as 'Cash.' A physical altercation ensued between Bland and 'Cash,' during which Gray retrieved a firearm and shot Bland multiple times.
Gray's criminal history included convictions for driving or operating a vehicle without consent in 2007 and being a felon in possession of a firearm in 2010. Following the shooting, Gray fled and was on the run for nearly 11 months before being arrested in Mankato, Minnesota, on July 17, 2015. During his arrest, Gray provided a fake name but was identified through his fingerprints. He was subsequently extradited to Milwaukee to face charges.
In July 2016, a jury found Antonio Gray guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, use of a dangerous weapon, and possession of a firearm by a felon. The verdict came after a trial where the prosecution presented evidence, including witness testimonies and forensic analysis, linking Gray to the crime. Gray was remanded into custody following the verdict, and a sentencing hearing was scheduled.
