On the evening of March 19, 2015, Robert Fitzpatrick, a 38-year-old Black male, was sitting in his car outside his apartment in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The vehicle was parked in the 8900 block of West Mill Road when the tranquility of the night was shattered by the sound of gunfire. An unknown assailant, or assailants, fired multiple shots into Fitzpatrick's vehicle.
Struck by the gunfire, Fitzpatrick sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The Milwaukee Police Department was called to the location, near the intersection of 89th and Mill streets, around 10:45 p.m. to find the deadly aftermath of the shooting. Investigators began an immediate inquiry into the homicide, seeking to understand the circumstances that led to the violent encounter.
Despite the ongoing investigation, no suspects have ever been publicly identified or apprehended in connection with the murder. The case has grown cold over the years, leaving the question of who was responsible for Robert Fitzpatrick's death unanswered. The Milwaukee Police Department continues to classify the shooting as an unsolved homicide, a painful open wound for a family and a community still waiting for justice.
