Winkers, a 17-year-old White/Caucasian male, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2015, at his residence. His death was the result of an accidental shooting. Jared had just graduated from Cassville High School in May of 2015 and was already taking steps toward his future. He was enrolled at Southwest Wisconsin Technical College in Fennimore, where he was pursuing a welding certificate and a CNC Setup/Operation certification. Known for his passions for guns and cars, he also enjoyed hunting, playing his guitar, and spending time on his Xbox. He was a young man with varied interests and a promising future in the trades.
In the wake of his death, there have been no reports of any arrests or suspects, as the incident was determined to be an accident. The focus for his family and the close-knit community of Cassville was on mourning the loss of a son, brother, and friend. A visitation was held at the Cassville High School Gymnasium, a place where Jared had recently celebrated a significant milestone, allowing family and friends to gather and share memories of the young man whose life had ended so abruptly.
