Paige Ann Linsmeyer, a 27-year-old Caucasian woman from Gillett, Wisconsin, died in a tragic event that unfolded on the evening of August 1, 2015. Friends who went to the home she shared with 51-year-old Brian J. Cleary made a grim discovery. Inside the residence, they found both Paige and Brian with gunshot wounds to the head. The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office was immediately called to the scene.
Upon their arrival, deputies determined that Brian J. Cleary was already deceased. Paige Linsmeyer, however, was critically injured but still alive. She was quickly transported to a local hospital for emergency medical care. Despite the efforts of medical staff, her injuries proved to be too severe, and she passed away the following day, on August 2, 2015.
Investigators processed the scene and recovered a small-caliber handgun. The subsequent investigation by the Oconto County Sheriff's Office concluded that the incident was a murder-suicide. The evidence indicated that Cleary had shot Linsmeyer before turning the weapon on himself. Authorities confirmed that no other individuals were present at the residence at the time of the shootings.
As Brian J. Cleary was identified as the sole perpetrator and was deceased, no arrests were made in connection with Paige Linsmeyer's death. The case was officially closed following the confirmation that it was a murder-suicide. Paige was remembered by her family as a person who enjoyed sports like softball, volleyball, and fishing. In a final act of generosity, her organs were donated, a decision that her family noted helped to save seven other lives.
