In the early hours of a Friday in Racine, Wisconsin, the life of Anthony Tyrone Jones Jr., a 28-year-old Black male, was tragically cut short. On November 11, 2016, a call brought police to the vicinity of Giese Elementary School where they discovered Jones unresponsive on the ground. Despite the efforts of responding officers and rescue personnel, he was pronounced deceased at the scene, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound.
Anthony, known to his loved ones as Tony, was remembered as a
charismatic and charming man with a great sense of humor. A graduate of Park High School, he was a devoted father, a loving son, and a hard worker with a passion for basketball and making music. His sudden death left a void in the lives of his family, including his parents, children, and siblings.
In the days following the shooting, the Racine Police Department announced they were investigating his death as a homicide and actively seeking information from the public. They urged any witnesses or individuals with knowledge of the crime to come forward to assist in their investigation. However, despite the initial calls for public assistance, there have been no subsequent announcements regarding any arrests made or the identification of any suspects in connection with the shooting death of Anthony Jones. The case, it appears, remains an unsolved homicide, leaving his family and community still seeking answers and justice for his untimely death.
