Fezer was getting into his car to drive to his girlfriend's house when he was shot twice.
The subsequent investigation by the Milwaukee Police Department led to the arrest of a
15-year-old suspect, Jose L. Orta. Despite his age, Orta was charged as an adult with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with Fezer's death. According to a witness statement given to the police, Orta was the individual who shot Fezer after the two had been involved in selling drugs together.
