On February 26, 2020, Trevor J. Wetselaar, a 33-year-old White male, arrived for his second-shift duties at the Molson Coors brewery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a place he had worked at for 18 months. Tragically, it was a day that would end in a senseless act of violence that cut his life short. A Navy veteran who had served for six years as a nuclear reactor operator aboard the USS Maryland, Trevor had returned to his hometown of Milwaukee in 2018, eager to build a life with his wife, Jane.
Having recently settled into their dream home, Trevor was looking forward to starting a family. He was known for his exceptional charm, his passion for hosting game nights with friends, and his love for progressive politics. His return to Milwaukee brought him closer to his parents, Janet and Jilles Wetselaar, and his brother, Anthony. Friends and family from all over the country would later gather to remember a man described as kind, warm, passionate, and loving.
The events of that Wednesday afternoon unfolded tragically when a coworker, 51-year-old Anthony Ferrill, an electrician at the brewery, opened fire on his colleagues. Trevor Wetselaar, along with four other employees—Dale Hudson, 60; Gennady Levshetz, 61; Jesus Valle Jr., 33; and Dana Walk, 57—were fatally shot. Following the attack, Ferrill died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at the scene. The motive for the shooting has not been officially confirmed by police. As the perpetrator took his own life, no arrests were made in connection with the shooting.
