a verbal disagreement in the living room culminated in a horrifying act of violence. He reported hearing a volley of gunshots and rushing to the room to find his brother Damon on the floor, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The argument had allegedly stemmed from ongoing issues between the siblings, with Darrell later telling police that his brother had been "talking down to him" that morning.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, Darrell Williams fled the scene. His attempt to evade capture led to a high-speed chase through the north side of Milwaukee. He was not alone in his flight; his cousin, James Hanford, was also in the vehicle. The pursuit ended with their apprehension by law enforcement.
