In the fall of 2021, a senseless act of violence cut short the life of 19-year-old Tanija Turner. On the evening of October 7th, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a dispute over a parking spot escalated into a tragic triple homicide. The incident unfolded near 8th and Cherry streets at the Hillside Terrace Apartments.
The altercation reportedly began when a driver was attempting to maneuver into a parking space.
What started as a minor disagreement quickly spiraled out of control, leading to gunfire. When the violence subsided, three people lay dead, including Tanija Turner. The other victims were identified as 36-year-old Quinton McGee and 30-year-old Terrance Taylor. A fourth individual, a 19-year-old man, was also shot and critically injured but survived.
In the aftermath, Tanija's mother, Rosemary Turner, expressed her profound grief and disbelief that a conflict over something so trivial could lead to such a devastating loss of life. The Milwaukee Police Department responded to the scene and recovered three firearms. Despite the ongoing investigation into the triple homicide, no arrests have been announced in connection with the shootings. The community was left to mourn the loss of three lives, with vigils held to honor the memories of Tanija Turner, Quinton McGee, and Terrance Taylor.
