In the pre-dawn hours of Saturday, February 26, 2022, the life of Demond Hicks, a 36-year-old Black male from Racine, Wisconsin, was tragically cut short. Officers were dispatched to the area near Victory and Cleveland Street around 3:45 a.m. to find Hicks lying in the street, having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but was ultimately pronounced dead.
