On a spring afternoon in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the life of 26-year-old Charles Jerome Burges-Cleveland, a Black male, was tragically cut short. On May 3, 2022, gunshots shattered the peace in the neighborhood near 44th Street and Auer Avenue, leaving Burges-Cleveland with fatal injuries. First responders arrived at the scene to find him unresponsive, and despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead. The shocking event also left another person, a 54-year-old, wounded but alive.
